This year Banyards has been working with the Wates Construction Intern Programme, we have hosted three interns in the Manchester office with a fourth due to start soon. The interns each spent one day a week with the teams in Manchester over an eight-week period as part of their professional development programme.
Hannah Daly, who had previously been part of our mentoring programme and also a work experience student with us, now works for Wates as a trainee MEP Manager and was welcomed back by Rich Hart. Her placement this time was in our Design department where she worked closely with Wates and Banyards on the Maghull School project. Hannah spent her time learning about Design stages, DCP, calculations and QA, building control and Part L, BIM, modelling and much more.
Of her time with us Hannah said: “Working with Banyards as part of my training scheme has helped me excel in both my technical capability and my understanding of design. It has been extremely enjoyable to work with the team again and to work together on our Maghull High School Project; this will aid a huge part of my development. In addition, I will continue to work with Banyards during the construction phase of the project and the other schools in the pipeline.”
Kieran Lean and Sean Millican joined Neil Burdess in our Commissioning Department. They are training in Building Services Management and Production Management. During their placement they learnt about the importance of an Independent Commissioning Manager and all the different processes that are part of the role. Towards the end of their training the trainees completed a commissioning management document for a live Wates Project.
Banyards are committed to working with young people to help them progress their careers and education and we are delighted to be involved with the Wates Intern programme.
