Congratulations Tony Davies on Ellie’s Prestigious Selection for European Equestrian Vaulting Championship

We are delighted to share the news about the remarkable achievement of Ellie, the daughter of one of our valued Commissioning Operations Managers Tony Davies. Ellie and her training partner, Abi, have been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Equestrian Vaulting Championships in Switzerland in July 2024.

Equestrian vaulting is a unique and thrilling sport that combines the grace of gymnastics and dance with the dynamic motion of a cantering horse. Ellie and Abi, competing in the pas-de-deux category (pairs), have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication to earn their place on the international stage.

A Journey of Passion and Perseverance

Ellie’s passion for equestrian vaulting began when she was just 8 years old after watching a captivating demonstration at the Horse of the Year Show. Combining her love for gymnastics and horse riding, Ellie embraced vaulting and has been dedicated to the sport for nearly a decade.

Despite facing challenges, including a fractured ankle early in her vaulting career, Ellie’s determination never wavered. She even competed with a splint, securing a victory in her class soon after her recovery. Balancing her vaulting ambitions with a full-time work and a finance apprenticeship, Ellie’s commitment is truly inspiring.

Abi, Ellie’s vaulting partner, shares a similar dedication to the sport. Starting at the age of 5, Abi has juggled her vaulting training with her A-level studies and the care of Raggie, the horse they train on in England. Both Ellie and Abi are members of the Shropshire Vaulters, with Abi’s mother, Naomi, serving as their coach.

Overcoming Obstacles

This season marks the duo’s first year competing together. To qualify for the European Championships, Ellie and Abi had to achieve their qualifying scores through rigorous competitions in England, Scotland, and an international event in France. Despite unforeseen challenges, such as competing on an unfamiliar horse after their designated horse was injured, the girls showcased resilience and adaptability.

A Call for Support

Competing in such a specialised sport comes with significant costs, particularly when it involves traveling and arranging for horses abroad. Ellie and Abi are preparing to face another new challenge, competing on a different horse for the Championships due to unforeseen circumstances.

To support Ellie and Abi in their journey to the European Championships, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the expenses. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in assisting these talented young athletes as they represent their country.

Join us in congratulating Ellie and Abi on their incredible achievement and wishing them the best of luck as they compete on the international stage!
